Type of Houses

Classroom: Ositos
Blog Title: My Family
Weekly Feature Theme: Type of Houses
Week: October 21st, 2019 to October 25th, 2019

What are we learning?
Dear Parents,

We hope you are having a wonderful week. This week we will continue with our theme “My Family.” This week we will be discussing different types of houses and the materials used for construction. Children will explore and discover different types of houses around the world. Using their creativity children will create houses using the following materials: straw, wood, and brick.

We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme, so children can continue learning through fun experiences that help kids explore everything related to the family in different ways. Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross motor skills, fine motor skills, language, and socio-emotional skills. Below you can find a summary of all the activities, children will participate during the week:

Homework

Children are learning all the time; during walks, car rides, on family outings, and while they play. As parents and educators, we should encourage and support these explorations and games in a creative manner. We consider some examples of the best daily tasks that we can do at home with our kids are as follows:

·         Reading one book from front to back.
·         Stimulate them to express their feelings, emotions, and thought while having a dialogue or during family conversations.
·         Teach kids responsibility while asking them to complete age-appropriate chores or household tasks.

In addition to these suggestions, Spanish for fun! will provide weekly homework assignments to practice skills learned in the classroom. To complete homework assignments is optional. Below are the homework assignment instructions if you decide to work on them with your child:

·         Homework will be placed in wall pocket envelopes or in your child’s cubby every Wednesday. Please feel free to collect them every Wednesday.
·         Review the enclosed assignments and select one, two, or more worksheets and have your child work on them. Complete all assignment worksheets is optional.
·         Return completed assignments by Tuesday of the following week.

If you have any questions regarding homework assignments, please let us know.

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Traveling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's favorites! These activities allow every child to create and share memories with their classmates. Student of the week will run from August through January and Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.

As you know, every week, a child is given a set week that he/she is the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and other interests. Parents will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and children will enjoy bonding time and making new memories, and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week, parents and the child should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper containing a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parents should make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.

Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Friendly Reminders

Song of the Week – Tengo una familia

Tengo una familia y es fenomenal
Mi papá me ama, mi mamá igual
Con mis hermanitos yo puedo jugar
Y mis abuelitos bailan sin cesar (x2)
Con este cha cha cha
La familia aprenderás
Respeto a papá, amo a mi mamá

Mi abuelo y mi abuela felices están
Esta es mi familia, es mi dulce hogar
Cha cha cha cha amo a mi mamá
Cha cha cha cha amo a mi papá (x2)

Poems

Viva mi familia
Qué felicidad
Vivo junto a ellos
Es fenomenal
Todos los niños y niñas
Necesitan un hogar
Una casita encantada
Un lugar para soñar

Todas las mañanas
Sueño al despertar
Que del cielo viene un ángel
Que me viene a besar
Al abrir los ojos
Miro donde está
Y en el mismo sitio
Veo a mis papas.

Riddles

Empieza con “A”
Y muchos cariños me da
Me cuida, me mima
Y es la mamá de mi mamá
Mi abuelita

Tongue Twister

Mi tía Pancha plancha
Con dos planchas
Con dos planchas
Plancha mi tía Pancha
