My Family

Classroom: Ositos A & BBlog Title: My Family
Weekly Feature Theme: My Family & Family Members
Week: October 14th, 2019 to October 18th, 2019

What are we learning?

Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a wonderful week.
Children are ready to learn about a new theme “My Family.” It is very important for the children to learn about the significance of the family as it helps to foster the feeling of a sense of belonging. Being part of a family allow children to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem as well as feel loved, understood and experience respect.
In the next two weeks, children will discover interesting facts about the role of the family, the importance of family in modern society, and family diversity. This week children will learn the roles of each family member.

We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme, so children can continue learning through fun experiences that help kids explore everything related to the family in different ways.  Each one of them will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills. Below you can find a summary of all activities during the week:

·         Family Members

o    Identify family members.

o    Create a family collage. Draw each family member and place it in the mural.

Homework

Children are learning all the time; during walks, car rides, on family outings, and while they play. As parents and educators, we should encourage and support these explorations and games in a creative manner. We consider some examples of the best daily tasks that we can do at home with our kids are as follows:

·         Reading one book from front to back.
·         Stimulate them to express their feelings, emotions, and thought while having a dialogue or during family conversations.
·         Teach kids responsibility while asking them to complete age-appropriate chores or household tasks.

In addition to these suggestions, Spanish for fun! will provide weekly homework assignments to practice skills learned in the classroom. To complete homework assignments is optional.

Homework activity will start as of the week of Monday, September 30th, 2019. Below are the homework assignment instructions if you decide to work on them with your child:

·         Homework will be placed in wall pocket envelopes or in your child’s cubby every Wednesday. Please feel free to collect them every Wednesday.
·         Review the enclosed assignments and select one, two, or more worksheets and have your child work on them. Complete all assignment worksheets is optional.
·         Return completed assignments by Tuesday of the following week.

If you have any questions regarding homework assignments, please let us know.

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Traveling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's favorites! These activities allow every child to create and share memories with their classmates. Student of the week will run from August through January and Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.

As you know, every week, a child is given a set week that he/she is the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and other interests. Parents will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and children will enjoy bonding time and making new memories, and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week, parents and the child should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper containing a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parents should make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.

Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Song of the Week – Tengo una familia

Tengo una familia y es fenomenal
Mi papa me ama mi mama igual
Con mis hermanitos yo puedo jugar
Y mis abuelitos bailan sin cesar.(x2)
Con este chachacha
La familia aprenderás
Respeto a papa amo mi mama

Mi abuelo y mi abuela felices están
Esta es mi familia, es mi dulce hogar.
Chachachacha amo a mi mama
Chachachacha amo a mi papa (x2)

Poems

Viva mi familia
Que felicidad
Vivo junto  a ellos
Es fenomenal
Todos los niños y niñas
Necesitan un hogar
Una casita encantada
Un lugar para soñar

Todas las mañanas
Sueño al despertar
Que del cielo viene un ángel
Que me viene a besar.
Al abrir los ojos
Miro donde esta
Y en el mismo sitio
Veo a mis papas.

       Riddles

Empieza con “A”
Y muchos cariños me da.
Me cuida , me mima
Y es la mamá de mi mama
Mi abuelita.

Tongue Twister

Mi tía Pancha plancha
Con dos  planchas
Con dos  planchas
Plancha mi tía Pancha.
