Blog Title: My emotions
Week: October 7th, 2019 to October 11th, 2019
What are we learning?
Dear
Parents,
We hope you are having a wonderful
week. This week we are going to learn about a new theme called "My
emotions" and emotional self-awareness, which involves identifying and
understanding one's emotions. Everyone is equally important, and so is it
expressing feelings through the use of words.
This topic will allow
children to express if they feel happy, sad, or upset and identify the emotions
they feel towards specific experiences or situations that they live. Children
will learn to identify and explore their feelings. Children will be ready to
talk more about what causes people to feel specific ways and to anticipate how
they might think in a particular situation. This type of thinking is a building
block of empathy. Just like walking and talking, children will learn that
emotional responses constitute development achievements.
It is a need to help children
not only to acknowledge their emotions but also to express them assertively.
The opportunity of acknowledgment and expression of feelings will promote
interpersonal skills in children, increase self-confidence, regulate behavior,
and foster interaction and communication with others.
We have scheduled exciting
activities related to this theme so children can continue learning through fun
experiences and that help kids explore their emotions in lots of different
ways. Children will experience being happy, sad, upset, and scared. Each one of
these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor
skills, language, and socio-emotional skills. Below you can find a summary of
all the activities during the week:
·
Understanding Emotions
o Read the storybook
“The Monster of Emotions.”
o Learn about emotions.
·

feelings towards an event.
o Use what-if scenarios
and ask children to reveal how would they feel.

Homework
Children are
learning all the time; during walks, car rides, on family outings, and while
they play. As parents and educators, we should encourage and support these
explorations and games in a creative manner. We consider some examples of the best
daily tasks that we can do at home with our kids are as follows:
·
Reading one book from front to
back.
·
Stimulate them to express their
feelings, emotions, and thought while having a dialogue or during family
conversations.
·
Teach kids responsibility while
asking them to complete age-appropriate chores or household tasks.
In addition to these
suggestions, Spanish for fun! will provide weekly homework assignments to
practice skills learned in the classroom. To complete homework assignments is
optional.
Homework activity
will start as of the week of Monday, September 30th, 2019. Below are
the homework assignment instructions if you decide to work on them with your
child:
·
Homework will be placed in wall
pocket envelopes or in your child’s cubby every Wednesday. Please feel free to
collect them every Wednesday.
·
Review the enclosed assignments and
select one, two, or more worksheets and have your child work on them. Complete
all assignment worksheets are optional.
·
Return completed assignments by

If you have any questions regarding homework assignments, please let us
know.
Year-Round ActivitiesStudent of the Week & Traveling Pet
Please make sure to
sign up your child for these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's
favorites! These activities allow every child to create and share memories with
their classmates. Student of the week will run from August through January and
Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.
As you know, every
week, a child is given a set week that he/she is the student of the week. On
Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book
created with family pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and
other interests. Parents will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom.
The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so
they can share it with classmates.
As for the Traveling
Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and
family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a
new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet
loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses!
However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and
children will enjoy bonding time and making new memories, and the child will be
very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week,
parents and the child should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper
containing a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parents should
make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.
Sign up for both
activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the
classroom.

Song of the Week – Ronda de los Sentimientos
Este nuevo jueguito
sé que te va a gustar
Prepara bien tu carita
Pues tú me vas a imitar (x2)
Feliz feliz tu estas
Tu cara feliz estará! (para y se hace el gesto)
Este nuevo jueguito
Extrañas a tu mama
Muy triste, triste tu estas! (para y se hace el gesto)
Este nuevo jueguito
Un ruido extraño escuchas…
Asustado tú te pondrás (para y se hace el gesto)
Este nuevo jueguito
Helado papa no te da
Enojado tú te pondrás (para y se hace el gesto)
Este nuevo jueguito
sé que te va a gustar
Prepara bien tu carita
Pues tú me va a imitar
Este nuevo jueguito
Sé que te va a gustar
Y todos lo cantamos aquí en Sff!
Poems
Un besito aquí en la frente
Para ser amigos siempre
Un besito en la nariz
Y que seas muy feliz
un besito en tu corazón
para llenarlo con mucho amor.
Riddles
Juegos y risas
Comparto con ellos
Me ayudan, me quieren
Soy feliz de tenerlos.
¿Quienes son?
Los amigos
Tongue Twister
Tres tristes tigres
Comen trigo en un
