Week of Nov. 13 - 17

Classroom: Ositos A & B

Blog Title: My community and I

Weekly Feature Theme: Community Places & Means of Transportation

Week: From 11/13/2017 to 11/17/2017

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,

We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week we will learn about other community places and means of transportation. Children will be able to identify the three modes of transportation (land, air and sea) and to categorize different types of transportation into the correct mode. Children will love playing with all types of transportation including vehicles such as cars, trucks, airplanes and more.

  • On Monday, we will talk about shopping centers and malls.  Children will learn to identify some signs in these commercial places.

  • On Tuesday, we will explore our neighborhood. We will discover different types of houses, playgrounds, parks, and highways.

  • On Wednesday, we will identify everything about land transportation. Children will have fun playing with the trucks, cars, tractors, etc.

  • On Thursday, we will discuss about land public transportation such as buses and trains.

  • On Friday, we will review what we have learnt during the week about other community places and transportation.

  • Children will rehearse  for our Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebrations throughout the week.

We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue learning through fun experiences that help kids explore everything related to our community places in different ways. Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.

Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Travelling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these wonderful activities as these 2 are the children favorites! Both activities allow every child to make and share memories with their classmates.

For the student of the week activity, every week a child is given a set week that he/she are the student of the week. On Monday of their week the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports/hobbies, animals or anything they are interested in. Also, on their week parents and the student of the week may pick a day to present the poster and the book to the class. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and child will enjoy bonding time and making new memories and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week parents and the child should bring to school a collage of pictures and a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parent should make sure to place the collage inside the travelling pet bag.

Sign up to both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Friendly Reminders

  • Remember your child to wash his/her hands when entering the classroom and before leaving the school. This is the best way to prevent illnesses.

  • Make sure to bring your child on time so he/she can participate in circle time. This activity starts at 8:45am and will stimulate and strengthen skills in all areas.

  • Read your child’s journal, blogs and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.

  • Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate in the scheduled activities at school.

  • Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.

  • Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.

  • Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.

  • Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day, if your child has not been potty-trained yet.

  • Label all bottles and food that you bring to preschool for your child with your child’s name and the date it was prepared and drop it in the kitchen. Please keep in mind we are a nut free environment.

  • Take home the homework blue folder in your child’s cubby and take one or 2 paper sheets from the container that are next to the entrance of the classroom. Homework should be returned by Tuesday and do not forget to bring the homework folder back on Monday.

  • Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.

Song of the Week – Comunidad

Conozco mucha mucha gente en mi vida,
Que siempre ayuda con mucha alegría
Y si tú quieres conocer sus oficios
Jugando vamos a nombrarlos en un ratito.
Es l enfermera, es el cartero
Es la maestra de Sff
El policía y el bombero
Son los amigos que te cuidaran.
Conozco mucha……….
Es el dentista y el granjero
El cocinero…delicias te hará
El carpintero y el arquitecto
Son los amigos que te ayudaran.
