Weekly Theme: Ground Transport
Week: From January 6th, 2020 to January 10th, 2020
What
we are learning?
Dear Parents,
We hope you all
have a wonderful start to the new year. During the month of January, we will
learn about a new topic “Getting around and communicating in my city.” Children
will get familiar with different means they can use to get around and
communicate. Through practical actions, we keep enlightening kids about how we
commute from one place to another and how we communicate.
This week children
will discover ground transport that moves on roadways such as cars, trains,
buses, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, etc. Through practical actions we keep
enlightening kids about how we commute from one place to another. We have
scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue
learning through fun experiences. Each one of these activities will help to
continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and
socio-emotional skills. Below you can find a summary of all activities during

Homework
Children are learning all the time; during
walks, car rides, on family outings, and while they play. As parents and
educators, we should encourage and support these explorations and games in a
creative manner. We consider some examples of the best daily tasks that we can
do at home with our kids are as follows:
·
Reading one book from front to
back.
·
Stimulate them to express their
feelings, emotions, and thought while having a dialogue or during family
conversations.
·
Teach kids responsibility while
asking them to complete age-appropriate chores or household tasks.
In addition to these suggestions, Spanish for
fun! will provide weekly homework assignments to practice skills learned in the
classroom. To complete homework assignments is optional. Below are the homework
assignment instructions if you decide to work on them with your child:
·
Homework will be placed in wall
pocket envelopes or in your child’s cubby every Wednesday. Please feel free to
collect them every Wednesday.
·
Review the enclosed assignments and
select one, two, or more worksheets and have your child work on them. Complete
all assignment worksheets is optional.
·
Return completed assignments by
Tuesday of the following week.
If you have any questions regarding homework assignments, please let us
know.
Year-Round
Activities
Student of the Week &
Traveling Pet
Please make sure to sign up your child for
these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's favorites! These
activities allow every child to create and share memories with their
classmates. Student of the week will run from August through January and
Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.
As you know, every week, a child is given a set
week that he/she is the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the
student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family
pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and other interests. Parents
will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom. The student of the week
may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with
classmates.
As for the Traveling Pet activity, the
classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that
week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the
family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night,
go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not
like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and children will enjoy bonding
time and making new memories, and the child will be very excited to share all
the memories with his/her classmates. In their week, parents and the child
should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper containing a brief
description of what they did with the pet. Parents should make sure to place
the collage inside the traveling pet bag.
Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up
sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Song of the Week – A Volar
Vamos
volando en un avión
Y
al ver por la ventana vemos las nubes pasar
Volando
en un avión
A
una enorme altura nos vamos a pasear
Desde
mi ventana las alas puedo ver
Y
allá abajo otras cosas también
Los
autos y edificios muy pequeños son
Y
me hacen sentir que muy alto estoy
Es
muy divertido un avión pilotear
Y
cuando sea mayor eso voy a estudiar
Por
ahora me conformo con solo jugar
A
salvo de tormentas que me puedan dañar
Rhymes
#1
Son muchos los medios de
locomoción
Los hay terrestres
Como el camión
Otros son acuáticos
Como el gran vapor
Y de los aéreos
El mayor de todos
Es el avión
#2
Quiero un barco de colores
Un avión para volar
Una moto de carreras
Y un gran autocar
Para ir con mis amigos
Por el cielo y por el mar
Y por la tierra redondita
Muchas vueltas dar
Riddles
#1
Va por el cielo
Como ventarrón
Lleva pasajeros
Y anda a motor
El avión
#2
