Little Scientists

Classroom: Ositos and Dinosaurios

Blog Title: Summer Camp

Weekly Feature Theme: Little Scientists

Week: July 16th, 2018 to July 20th, 2018

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week the children will learn everything about being little scientists. Children will experiment with color and water, try to find aquatic animals hidden in ice cubes, explore insects with magnifying glasses and also rocks. They will experiment with magnets and objects as well.
We have scheduled other learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences. It will be a fun week.
We would like to remind you that the water bottles of your child must be properly labeled with their name. There is going to be a marker and tape in the classroom so you can do it here, in case you forgot to do it before leaving home.
Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

·      Dinosaurios: splash days on Mondays from 3:30pm to 4:00pm and Wednesdays from 11:00am to 11:30am.

Friendly Reminders

·         Remember your child to wash his/her hands when entering the classroom and before leaving the school. This is the best way to prevent illnesses.

·         Make sure to bring your child on time so he/she can participate in circle time. This activity starts at 8:45am and will stimulate and strengthen skills in all areas.

·         Read your child’s journal, blogs, and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.

·         Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate on the scheduled activities at school.

·         Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has an extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.

·         Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.

·         Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.

·         Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day if your child has not been potty-trained yet.

·         If your child is bringing a lunch box, please label it with your child’s name and date and drop it in the kitchen.

·         Take home the homework blue folder in your child’s cubby and take one or 2 paper sheets from the container that are next to the entrance of the classroom. Homework should be returned by Tuesday and do not forget to bring the homework folder back on Monday.

·         Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.

·         Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.

·         Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.

·         Have your child wear a swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.

·         Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellent should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.
