Blog Theme: Green Earth
Weekly Theme: Saving the Planet
Week: From 02/19/2018 to 02/23/2018
What we are learning?
Dear Parents,
We hope you all have a wonderful week. Children will continue to learn about our theme “Green Earth”. When we talk about our environment we mean everything in the world around us which can affect our lives. It's essential for children to learn about how to protect the environment. There are multiple ways to help and protect Mother Earth at pre-school.
This week we will find educational and fun ways for children to be proactive in terms of the environment. It is important for children to discover and explore which simple things they can do to help save planet Earth, from conserving water (have showers instead of baths) and energy (turn off lights) to recycling (place items in corresponding recycled bins) and reusing (drink water from reusable water bottles instead of plastic) as we all need to try to change our ways to help the environment and ourselves.
We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue acquiring knowledge through fun experiences. Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.
On Monday, children will learn about pollution in planet Earth.
On Tuesday, children will discover what products are disposed by people and where they arrived.
On Wednesday, children will learn how they can care for planet Earth.
On Thursday, children will explore recycling. We will discuss what the benefits of recycling are, how we can recycle and which objects or items are good for recycling.
On Friday, children will review what they have learnt this week and which one they enjoy the most. They will also participate in an exciting experiment related to recycling. Children will create their own recycled bins from recycled boxes.
Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Travelling Pet
Please make sure to sign up your child for these wonderful activities as these 2 are the children favorites! Both activities allow every child to make and share memories with their classmates.
For the student of the week activity, every week a child is given a set week that he/she are the student of the week. On Monday of their week the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports/hobbies, animals or anything they are interested in. Also, on their week parents and the student of the week may pick a day to present the poster and the book to the class. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.
As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and child will enjoy bonding time and making new memories and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week parents and the child should bring to school a collage of pictures and a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parent should make sure to place the collage inside the travelling pet bag.
Sign up to both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.
Friendly Reminders
Remember your child to wash his/her hands when entering the classroom and before leaving the school. This is the best way to prevent illnesses.
Make sure to bring your child on time so he/she can participate in circle time. This activity starts at 8:45am and will stimulate and strengthen skills in all areas.
Read your child’s journal, blogs and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.
Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate in the scheduled activities at school.
Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.
Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.
Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.
Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day, if your child has not been potty-trained yet.
Label all bottles and food that you bring to preschool for your child with your child’s name and the date it was prepared and drop it in the kitchen. Please keep in mind we are a nut free environment.
Take home the homework blue folder in your child’s cubby and take one or 2 paper sheets from the container that are next to the entrance of the classroom. Homework should be returned by Tuesday and do not forget to bring the homework folder back on Monday.
Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.

Song of the Week
Buenos días ya salió el sol
Miro hacia el cielo, las nubes de algodón
Buenas noches, la luna salió
Muchas estrellitas luceros de amor.
Estrellas, planetas
Luna y sol
Cuida nuestra tierra y llénala de amor

Yo vivo en un mundo
No hay como él
Lleno de flores y plantas también.
Encuentro rocas, arena y mar
Tierra y ríos para disfrutar.

Que debemos cuidar
Su nombre es Tierra
¡Qué hermoso lugar!
